Races of Seldra

There are many races throughout the world, and Seldra, being the melting pot that it is, contains quite the variety. Many traveled to this place to lead pure, natural lives. A few of them have made notable influences on the land.

Primary Races
Humans (singular Human): Just like Ronou, Mune, me, or you (hopefully). Humans were the first sapient race that ever existed on the planet, and the only race for a long time. They are pretty typical and boring, not seen as diverse by other races, despite their many shapes, sizes, and colors. By some strange twist of history, some Humans became fused with animals, spawning hundreds of new races. Now pure-blooded Humans are a minority throughout the world. Some races consider Humans weak or unimportant, but Humans are not to be underestimated, dominating, adaptive, and cunning in nature. Soem realize that humans have as much potential to be destructive as they do to be creative, and that they indeed did "help" to spawn every other race. Humans usually make up for lack of physical strength with mind power. The strongest Humans are Magi.
Boomen (singular Booman):
Baboon people. In Seldra, they are found exclusively in the Western rainforest, mostly reclusive but very social among themselves. The majority (though not all) of them have wild hair, and the males have baboon-like red-and-blue noses (and behinds), as well as prehensile tails. They are agile and flexible, able to walk on fours (but easily capable of walking on twos), and are able to run and climb trees with great dexterity. They care deeply about the Earth. They dislike most other races and tend to hostilly drive intruders out of their living area and are not adapted easily. Because of this, not much about their current history is known about them by other races, and not many people care to learn about them anymore. In older history, they broke away from the Humans due to their inability to compromise.
The way they speak derived from a cutting down of the Humans' Selarden. This may make them sound uneducated, but they are actually quite complex and intelligent, with their own books, scholars, and duties.
Canen (singular Canan): Canine people. They span domesticated types (dobermans, dauchsunds, collies, etc.) and wild/exotic types (dingos, wolves, coyotes, foxes), though Wolves sometimes refer to themselves as Wolfen out of pride. Canen are quite common throughout Seldra and are often in service positions. In general, they can be docile and somewhat more trustworthy than Humans. Few have known to be negatively affected by full blue moons (said to transform them to berserker forms). In their distant history, they have had strong racial conflicts with the Fenin, even involving their own slaughter, but since then the races tend to get along relatively well.
Subsets: Wolfen
Fenin (singular Fenen): Feline people. Like the Canen, they are common but also more detached. The more "domestic" types tend to be somewhat weak, mostly made up of Magi to compensate, but there are also wilder types, such as tiger-Fenin or panther-Fenin. Many harbor a great curiosity and urges to travel. The most of the past conflicts with Canen were brought on by them.
Subsets: Lynxen
Bremen (singular Breman): Bird people. Most of them have wings, either on their backs or (majorly) as part of their arms. They come with or without beaks and sometimes lack hair, with feathers or down in its stead. While not technically birds, Gryphon types are also included in this race. (Gryphons always have back-wings.) They seem less common than Canen and Fenin, but this is mostly because they love living in lofty places like large trees and mountaintops and are not as often seen. They are somewhat detatched from normal societies, and the Neski region types especially carry an air of snootiness derived from their high living. Generally, they enjoy the finer, simpler things in life. Their Elemental practices are mostly restricted to moving wind.
Subsets: Gryphen
Kaamen (singular Kaaman): Reptilian people. Composed of lizards, iguanas, crocodiles, dinosaurs, and the like, they commonly have scales and usually lack hair, though some have fur. They also tend to have long claws. Kaamen are mostly found in the desert or marshlike places. Desert Kaamen tend to be nomadic and never settle in one place. They can be warlike and are usually quick to act without thought. Their rash hostility can be a drawback, because they are also very strong. They are the least intelligent of most races but can be relied on for hard work.
Subsets: Drakken, Wyfen
Drakken (singular Drakan): The Drakken are technically an extension of the Kaamen, but they often consider themselves "above" that race (with a much larger capacity to think and an appreciation for more things in life) and have separated themselves from it. They are dragon/wyvern people (wyverns calling themselves "Wyfen", though this is optional) who have a great sense of pride and very traditional customs, much like the Bremen. Their appearances fluctuate greatly, from what we would identify as Eastern, Western, and things we have never seen, making them a diverse, colorful race (also like the Bremen). They love to create beautiful things and have developed music and art of many kinds. They, as well as Porpi, are among the most intelligent beings on the planet, and are just as reclusive. On Seldra, they are somewhat rare.
Porpi, Dolfi, and Koipe: Dolphin/porpoise/fish people, respectively. As one could imagine, their anthromorphic forms are strange and diverse. They have no particular aversion to land-dwellers and in fact generally enjoy the company of many people, but their need to breathe water has limited them to seaside cities and islands. No one in Seldra comes into contact with these races often, though a few could be seen in pirate ships or around exploring, having broken away from their old life. Few others have managed to see their beautiful and unique underwater creations, though the occasional seafarer may come across a remnant from the fabled city Atlas. It is argued whether or not Merpeople fit into this category, but they harbor just as much mystery. Dolfi are perhaps the most intelligent race on the planet.
Subsets: Too many to count, including Octopus-men, etc.
Besides these races, there are also a great many others, too small to name, such as mouse people, bear people, insect people, equestian people, and, though rare, even certain kinds of Cho Ikii (though Cho Ikii-people are envied and sometimes outcast for their natural ability to manipulate Elements). They are generally more sparse, especially on Seldra. These more unnamed races are usually referred to in general manners.
On top of this, there are special human-animal races such as Centaurs (human-horse), Fauns (human-deer), Satyrs (human-goat), Elves (a mix of many animals), and so on. None of these live on Seldra naturally.
The Fusion of Human and Animal
Humans and animals became fused around the year 1000, creating hundreds of all-new races for the world. This fusion occured with several different results: a person would still look somewhat Human but have strong animal attributes; a person would become the perfect fusion of animal and human appearance, be it a bear, squirrel, pig, or what have you, sometimes with less-than-pretty results; and some became fully anthropomorphisized animals. That event has had a sizable effect on the world, mostly for the better; it grew, diversified, expanded.
Wildlife
Thanks to Seldra's incredibly varied geography, it also allows for many various types of wildlife. Besides your generic animals, such as dogs, or deer, Seldra also hosts lots of unique animals.
Animals can host Elemental properties and thus be weak against certain types of Elements or strong against others.
Regular Animals
Red-Crested Boas These colorful snakes are known to only live within Fukai Forest. They are highly poisonous, with a type of poison that, if not treated promptly, can start eating away at the flesh. The boas and their queen, Schalah, made a pact with the Boomen to never bother each other in their own parts of the forest, but the pact has been violated several times by both sides.
Dinosaurs Sometimes also kept as pets or trained, like dragons, they roam the land freely and are mostly passive towards puny mankind. Most of them tend to grow huge and thus are warded away from villages. There are many dinosaur-dragon hybrids.
Sea Monsters Also referred to as "hydro-hydras." They are only located in Osha, the Great Ocean surrounding Seldra. Semi-draconic and very destructive, they often ruin anything or anyone who trespasses in "their" ocean. They are part of the reason people often don't travel to or from Seldra. Since travel is rare, they're not worried about much anymore, since they never come to land. (Water/Earth-Elemental)
Gryphons Very rare all over, a free-roaming nomadic creature. Most appear to be the combination of lion and bird; some have hooves, others scales. A rare few are flightless.
Furries Furry fairies. No one knows their origins, but they tend to be a lot more hostile and manipulate Elements to their advantage. Luckily, they are rare.
Pegasi These winged horses are incredibly rare, also, and yet even rarer are the unicorn-pegasus hybrids called Unisii, who are today thought to be merely myth. Some have claimed to see these in their dreams.
Cho Ikii
Animals with emerald blood. They're notably the only kinds of animals (saving dragons and phoenixes) who can perform Magi-Mani naturally. (You can imagine how destructive this was initially.) There are literally thousands of species.
Flurries Tiny blue birds that live on snowy mountaintops. They are often seen coming to the aid of weary or fallen climbers, much like St. Bernards (only smaller and more in number). Using Magi-Mani, they will try to revive the fallen traveler or get help if they can't. (Ice)
Faries Fairies of all sorts live in flowers. Besides taking gentle care of the flowers, they offer advice to anyone who bothers to stop and talk to them. Some consider this myth, but others find it common knowledge. Many fairies have dispersed recently due to the stirring of mysterious forces. (Multi)
Star Chasers A species of reptile that are usually dark blue or black with realistic stars speckled on their spine-like fur. They are usually seen flying through the sky at night, although they have no wings.
Sky Streamers A species of furry, doglike reptile much similar to the Star Chasers. They, too, can fly without wings, and their fur spans the many colors of the spectrum. They also appear to glow in the dark. They "stream the sky" at night, creating nocturnal rainbows.
Chokara Large, rare breeds of reptilian canine, often found in red, green, or blue, but not limited to those colors. Long ago, they were a towering and intelligent race, but that can hardly be said of them now.
Dragons The dragons that roam Seldra are generally docile, but a few of them get hostile every once in a while. Some people keep smaller ones as pets. Most of them are Fire-Elemental, but there are ones with varied Elemental properties as well. Three major types include: Earth Westerns, Earth Easterns, and Jet Dragons, streamlined, large-winged dragons with skin rather than scales. (Some dragons aren't Cho Ikii.)
Phoenixes It has been said that there was only one Phoenix, continually being reborn throughout the years, but it supposedly disappeared around 1000 years ago. (Fire)
Draconixes Whether or not they still exist is rumor, but they have been seen - the mystical and rare hybrid of Dragon and Phoenix. They are, however, as rarely seen as the Phoenix. (Fire/Ice)
Unicorns These mystical horned horses once were common, like fairies, and people rode them as common horses or mules. However, as the years passed and people slowly became more corrupt, the Unicorns started disappearing; and while mankind could not see through its corruption, the Unicorns disappeared completely. (Multi)
If any non-Cho Ikii-looking animal appears to manipulate Elements, it may contain a small amount of Cho Ikii blood.
